I like the fact that it doesn't break the bank, components are okay for this entry level bike. I wasn't happy about the bottom bracket coming a loose after about 200 miles and the seat get uncomfortable after a bike. Other than that it is a great bike for the price.

22 years ago I was doing collegate road and mountain bike racing. Guess I got burnt out on it because I just quit. Now, I'm trying to get back into shape....if you have ever been down this road it is very exhausting!!! My favorite riding is time trial, but to whip my butt into shape I decided a mountian bike would be tougher on me. This is not a top of the line bike by any means, but if you are looking for a solid piece of equipment that is reliable and tough for a good price, you can't go wrong here. After three months of consistant riding it still works like a dream. I have had questionable performance from the tires...if you are staying on pavement they are fine, but off road you really need to upgrade. Saddle could be better, but everything else seems quality. Would definately recommend this to anyone.

Bought the bike about three weeks ago and in that time I have put over 200 miles on it. Replaced my 15 yr old Schwinn Frontier GSX with this bike. The diffence is night and day. This is my first Trek bike and I am very impressed. I have done a couple of 20 mile rides with ease.

This is the Best bike I've ever bought. Although cost wise it is not a small fortune, it sure rides like one. Going up hills it is so easy to pedal with no ease and my 24 oz. very tall (polar bottles insulated) and it fits perfectly. Although many bikes such as the $999.99 are better, for the [$] price, you can't complain. It even comes with disc brakes!!! And the awesome black, white, green colours? Great. Even the Brakes are white! matching the bike! Again, A Real Bang For Your Buck.

      Comments:

I recently just got back into Cycling after a 10+ year hiatus. Prior to having kids, I was an avid BMXer, intermediate singletrack rider, and worked in bike shops. Recently as well, I along with a fellow EMT started at my EMS Agency a EMS Bike Team, so the biking bug was back! With kids, you have to be "cost oriented". As is in my blood, no cheap big box retailer bikes here. I wanted something durable, reliable, could provide some off-road fun while keeping the sidewalk warrior ability with the kids and lastly a trusted name. Having had a mid-level Trek Hardtail back in the day, I decided to stick with Trek. I was planning on the 2011 Trek 3500 model until I saw the 2012 model in the bike shop. The paint scheme is MINT! The SR Suntour adjustable shock is managable with 80mm of travel compared to the baseline 62mm with the 3500. It is suitable for what I currently ride, as well as the Shimano components group too. It's no Deore LX, XT, or XTR from my day but it provides smooth shifting. The mechanical disc brakes I was somewhat suspect on, having worked in bike shops when the first ones were coming on bicycles. They are much improved now and offer little to no issues. I would highly recommend this bicycle for any novice or anyone such as myself getting back into cycling. Loving it!
